They Weren't Really Strangers

There are people in the world who love me, and I don't know who they are. Chances are, they are someone I know by name, but I have no way of knowing just who. So I feel like everybody is a candidate for having done something special for me.

Anonymous gifts have great power. They make you look at the world differently, and smile at everyone, after all, since you don't know who did it, it could be anyone!

There was the person who anonymously sent us $200 when I had to take my son to Salt Lake before he was diagnosed with Leukemia.

There was the person who anonymously sent us another $200 when our truck broke down - I have no idea if that was the same person or not!

There was the person, or group of people, who pixied us at Christmas a couple of years ago.

There was the person who left a bag of groceries on our doorstep when things were particularly hard.

There was the person who gave us a gift certificate one Christmas when we had very young children.

And so many more. We have been richly blessed in our life by people who have denied us the opportunity to thank them - but we have also enjoyed the special feeling of knowing that someone out there cared, but not quite knowing who.
